Both Newton County Academy basketball teams lost both games they played last week.
The Lady Generals lost 60-45 to Tri-County and 47-30 to Sylva Bay while the Generals lost 35-32 to Tri-County and 41-32 to Sylva Bay.
NCA will return to action this week with three games. NCA will host Sylva Bay on Monday and travel to Tri-County on Friday. NCA will then host Manchester on Friday before taking off until after Christmas when they will play in the Lamar School Tournament.
Tri-County girls 60, NCA 45
The Lady Rebels pulled away in the middle two periods and took a 15-point win over the Lady Generals on Monday.
Tri-County led 13-10 at the end of the first and outscored NCA 13-5 to lead 26-15 at the half. Tri-County outscored NCA 15-8 in the third to lead 41-23 going to the fourth. NCA took the fourth period 22-19 for the final margin.
Belle Hollingsworth led NCA with 13 points and five rebounds while Asten Russell had 12 points.
Tri-County boys 35, NCA 32
The Rebels pulled away in the fourth and took a three-point win over the Generals.
Tri-County led 10-6 at the end of first while NCA took the second period 15-11 to tie the game at 21-21 at the half. NCA outscored Tri-County 8-7 in the third to lead 29-28. Tri-County took the fourth 7-3 to take the win.
Kemp Alderman led NCA with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Riley Boswell had 11 points.
Sylva Bay girls 47, NCA 30
The Lady Saints used a big second half to pull away and beat the Lady Generals on Tuesday.
Sylva Bay led 11-8 at the end of the first while NCA outscored the Lady Saints 13-10 in the second to tie the game at 21-21 at halftime. Sylva Bay then pulled away in the second half, outscoring NCA 16-5 in the third and 10-4 in the fourth.
Cayden Alexander and Asten Russell each had seven points apiece for NCA.
Sylva Bay boys 41, NCA 32
The Saints used a big third period and pulled away to beat the Generals by nine on Tuesday.
Sylva Bay led 13-7 at the end of the first and 16-14 at the half. Sylva Bay outscored NCA 16-7 in the third to lead 32-21 going into the fourth.
Austin Upton led NCA with 16 points while Riley Boswell had 14 points.
