The Newton County boys soccer team continued its domination in Class 4A.
The Cougars picked up two more wins last week to finish the regular season with a 20-1 record as they beat Choctaw Central 3-1 and Germantown 4-1.
The Cougars, the Region 4-4A regular season champions with a record of 8-0, will now head to the Class 4A playoffs and will host Raymond on Tuesday in first-round action. The Rangers are 5-10-1 on the season. The winner will play the winner of the Pontotoc and New Albany game on Saturday.
On Tuesday, the Cougars beat Choctaw Central 3-1. Newton County had goals from Lee Hill, Malachi Estes and Graham Lewis. Davi Roldan had two assists while Hill also had an assist.
On Friday, the Cougars beat Germantown 4-1. Lee Hill, Christian Veazquez, Gustavo Silva and Malachi Estes all had goals in the win. Davi Roldan also had an assist.
The Lady Cougars split a pair of games last week as they beat Choctaw Central 7-0 but lost 3-0 to Germantown. No scoring information was available for the Lady Cougars.
The Lady Cougars finish the regular season with a record of 13-7 and advance to the Class 4A playoffs and will travel to Kosciusko. The Lady Whippets are 9-6 on the season.
