The Newton County boys soccer team picked up two more wins last week to improve to 13-1 on the season.
The Cougars hammered Jackson Jim Hill 7-0 on Thursday and also took a big 4-1 win over West Lauderdale on Tuesday.
Newton County was schedule to play Clarkdale on Saturday before returning to action on Monday, Jan. 6 against Louisville.
On Thursday, the Cougars took a 7-0 mercy-rule win over Jackson Jim Hill to round out their play before the Christmas holidays. Against the Tigers, junior Lee Hill had a game-high three goals and two assists while Graham Lewis had two goals. Gustovo Silva and Malchi Estes were also credited with goals in the win. Silva also had an assist while Christian Velazquez, Jesse Laird and Will Rushing also had assists.
On Tuesday, the Knights picked up a big 4-1 win over rival West Lauderdale, scoring two goals in each half. Lee Hill had another big game as he scored two goals and also picking up an assist. Gustavo Silva and Malachi Estes also had goals while Davi Roldan had three assists.
The Lady Cougars split their two games last week as they took an 11-0 win over Jackson Jim Hill on Thursday. Newton County scored all of their goals in the first half. Against West Lauderdale, the Lady Cougars dropped a 7-0 decision to their rivals from Collinsville. The Lady Cougars move to 8-5 on the season.
