The Newton County Lady Cougars continued to pound the softball as they rolled up four more wins last week.
County opened the week with a 20-6 win over Meridian on Tuesday and they beat rival West Lauderdale 4-2 on Thursday. On Saturday, County beat Enterprise 20-6 and Union 17-1.
Newton County, now 17-1 on the year, will travel to Northeast Lauderdale on Thursday.
Newton County 20, Meridian 6
Katelyn Gipson was 3-for-3 with two talks, a home runs and four runs scored. Casey Dube was 3-for-e with a double nd four RBIs while Lizzy Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Lorren Ivey was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Lanie Phillips was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Haley McDowell also had a big night at the bottom of the lineup, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Maeli Ben scored four runs and also had two RBIs as she reached on an error twice.
Natalie Lampton pitched 3 2/3 of an inning and picked up the win while Katelyn Gipson and Hannah Chaney also pitched for Newton County.
Newton County 4, West Lauderdale 2
The Lady Cougars used some timely hitting and took a tight division win over rival West Lauderdale on Thursday.
The Lady Cougars had nine hits in the contest, led by Jada McDougle who was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Katelyn Gipson was 2-for-3 with two doubles while Maeli Ben singled and drove in a run.
Natalie Lampton pitched all seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks.
Newton County 17, Union 1
County had 14 hits and took advantage of six errors. Maeli Ben was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs while Lorren Ivey was 2-for3 with three runs scored. Haley McDowell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Natalie Lampton was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Casey Dube doubled and had three RBIs while Katelyn Gipson doubled, walked twice and scored three runs. Lanie Phillips had two RBIs while Lizzy Hollingsworth scored two runs.
Newton County 20, Enterprise 6
County had 18 hits in the contest as Katelyn Gipson was 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and six RBIs. Lizzy Hollingsworth was also 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIS. Lanie Phillips and Casey Dube were each 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Lorren Ivey was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Natalie Lampton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Maeli Ben scored twice and had two RBIs. Brelie Phillips scored twice and had two RBIs while Haley McDowell and Katelyn Jackson each scored two runs.
