The Newton County Lady Cougars suffered their first loss of the season as the dropped an extra-inning contest to Neshoba Central on Thursday.
County lost 5-4 in eight innings to the Lady Rockets after hammering Northwest Rankin 13-3 and 11-1 on Tuesday.
Newton County, now 13-1 on the season, will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Meridian and will then host rival West Lauderdale on Thursday. On Saturday, County will plat in the Enterprise Tournament.

In a matchup of big-school powerhouses, the Lady Rockets took the win in the bottom of the eighth inning with a pair of runs.
Each team scored three runs in the third inning and County accord a single run in the top of the eighth on a solo home run by Jada McDougle.
But Neshoba opened the inning with two straight singles and then eventually scored on a grounder to second as the courtesy runner was safe at home.
Neshoba outhit Newton County 9-6 and the Lady Cougars committed five errors.
Natalie Lampton and Casey Dube were each 2-for-3 while Lizzy Hollingsworth had a two-run double. McDougle had the solo home run and scored twice.

Northwest Rankin 3
Newton County used a pair of five-run innings to take a run-rule win over Northwest Rankin on Tuesday.
Northwest Rankin scored two in the top of the first before County responded with five in the bottom of the first and second innings to lead 10-3. County added three runs in the third to take the run-rule win.
County had 15 hits in the contest as Jada McDougle was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run while scoring three times. Katelyn Gipson was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs while Lorren Ivey was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Lanie Phillips was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Lizzy Hollingsworth was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Haley McDowell singled and had three RBIs.
Natalie Lampton pitched all five innings, giving up five hits and just one earned run.
Newton County 11, Northwest Rankin 1
After two scoreless innings, Newton County scored in three straight innings to take a run-rule win over Northwest Rankin in the second game of a doubleheader.
Northwest scored one in the third while County scored two in the third, six in the fourth and three in the fifth.
County had 11 hits in the contest, led by Katelyn Jackson who was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Lorren Ivey was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Mandarie Leach singled and drove in three runs.
Christyia Denson pitched all five innings for County and gave up one run on four hits.
