The Newton County Lady Cougars won two out of three games last week.
Newton County dropped its second game of the season, falling 13-8 to Neshoba Central for the second time this year. County also grabbed a pair of 11-1 wins over Clarkdale and Meridian.
Newton County, now 21-2 on the year, will travel to rival West Lauderdale on Tuesday and will travel to Choctaw Central on Thursday.
County 11, Meridian 1
The Lady Cougars had 11 hits in the contest as Maeli Ben was 2-for-2 with a double, home run and four RBIs. Jada McDougle was 2-for-2 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Natalie Lampton was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Haley McDowell was also 2-for-3. Casey Dube tripled and scored two runs while Lizzy Hollingsworth had two RBIs.
Lampton pitched all five innings and gave up four hits and struck out two.
Neshoba Central 13, County 8
The Lady Rockets handed the Lady Cougars their second loss of the season on Tuesday night in a matchup of the area’s top teams.
Neshoba outhit Newton County 17-15 in the contest. Jada McDougle was 4-for-4 and scored twice while Lorren Ivey was 2-for-3 and had five RBIs. Katelyn Gipson was 2-for-4 with a double while Lizzy Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
Natalie Lampton pitched all seven innings for the Lady Cougars.
County 11, Clarkdale 1
Newton County had just nine hits in the contest as Lizzy Hollingsworth was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Lorren Ivey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Jada McDougle tripled and had four RBIs. Casey Dube was 2-for-3 while Brelie Phillips walked twice and scored twice. Katelyn Jackson also scored twice while Maeli Ben double and drove in two runs.
