The Newton County Lady Cougars reeled off three more wins last week as they took three more run-rule victories.
The Lady Cougars beat Southeast Lauderdale 11-1 and then pounded Clarkdale 12-1 and Morton 10-0.
Newton County, now 14-2 on the season, played at Northwest Rankin on Monday and hosted Raleigh on Tuesday. They will host Quitman on Thursday.
County 11, SE Lauderdale 1
The Lady Cougars broke open a close game with five runs in the fifth inning and took a six-inning, run-rule victory.
Newton County had 16 hits in the contest as Katelyn Gipson led the way, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs. Lanie Phillips was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while Shelby Anderson was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Brittany Thomas was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Lizzy Hollingsworth was also 2-for-3.
Natalie Lampton scattered nine hits and gave up one run on the mound in six innings to pick up the win.
County 12, Clarkdale 1
The Lady Cougars scored in every inning as they run ruled Clarkdale in five innings.
After leading 2-1 after the first, County broke the game open with six in the second. They finished off with one in the third and fifth and two in the fourth.
County had 18 hits in the contest as Katelyn Gipson led the way, going 4-for-4 with two home runs, including a grand slam as she drove in six runs. Lorren Ivey was 3-for-3 with two RBIs while Shelby Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double. Lizzy Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 with a double while Landree Amis was 2-for-3 with a double. Casey Dube was also 2-for-3 in the contest.
Natalie Lampton got the start and pitched three innings and gave up four hits and three walks. Katelyn Gipson pitched the last inning and got three outs in eight pitches.
County 10, Morton 0
The Lady Cougars banged out 15 hits and scored in every inning in a five-inning, run-rule victory on Thursday.
Newton County scored two runs in the first, third and fourth innings while adding three in the second and one in the fifth.
