The Lake Hornets won three out of four contests this past week as they improved to 12-4 on the season.
Lake opened the week with an 8-2 win over Pisgah and beat Sebastopol 11-5 on Tuesday. The Bobcats got a measure of revenge on Friday and took an 8-3 win over the Hornets. Lake bounced back on Saturday and took a 6-2 win over Choctaw Central.
Lake will return to action this week with three scheduled games. The Hornets will face Philadelphia in a key Division 4-2A series, hosting the Tornadoes on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Lake will then travel to Philadelphia on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Lake 8, Pisgah 2
Grant Tune was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Drew Moore was 2-for-3 with a double. Mark Qualls was 2-for-5 while Nathon Lott was 2-for-3 and Seth Harrison was 2-for-4.
Mickey Parker pitched five innings and scattered four hits and four walks as he gave up one run and eight strikeouts.
Lake 11, Sebastopol 5
The Hornets played error-free baseball and used an 11-run third inning to take an easy victory over the Bobcats on Tuesday.
Tune was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Qualls was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs while Brady McGee was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Moore was 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI while Parker also drove in two runs.
Moore pitched a complete game, giving up five runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out eight.
Sebastopol 8, Lake 3
Lake only had five hits in the game while Sebastopol had seven hits. The big hit of the game for the Hornets was a 3-run home run from Will Geter in the seventh. Desmond Harris and Nathon Lott had singled and were on base for the homer. Brady McGee and Drew Moore also singled for Lake.
Tune got the start and pitched five innings, giving up five runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three times. McGee pitched the final inning and gave up three runs on one hit, one walk and one hit batter.
Lake 6, Choctaw Central 2
The Hornets banged out 12 hits to take a four-run win over Choctaw Central on Saturday.
Moore was 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. McGee was also 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Lott was 3-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI. Tune had a single and drove in a run while Qualls had a double and scored. Seth Harrison also singled for the Hornets.
McGee got the start and pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out four.
