After a strong start to the season, Lake’s basketball season came to an end last week in the opening round of the Division 4-2A Tournament.
The Lake girls lost 54-37 to Union while the boys lost 70-59 to Scott Central to end their seasons.
Union girls 54, Lake 37
The Lady Jackets built a big lead and cruised to a 17-point win over the Lady Hornets.
Union led 16-10 at the end of the fist and then outscored Lake 18-9 in the second to lead 34-19 at the half. Union outscored Lake 11-7 in the third and led 45-26 going into the fourth.
Eryanna Mason led Union with 13 points while Ansley Rigby added 11 points. Kamyia Russell had eight points and Madison Buckley added seven points.
Laurel Breland and Darneshia Jones each had 10 points apiece for Lake.
Scott Central boys 70, Lake 59
The Hornets started fast but faded in the second half as the Rebels used a 54-point second half to take an 11-point win.
Lake led 13-4 at the end of the first period and 23-16 at the half. But Scott Central exploded in the second half as they outscored Lake 26-5 in the third to take a 39-28 into the fourth. Lake made a furious run in the fourth and outscored Scott Central 31-27 but it wasn’t enough as the Rebels advanced.
Danarrious Hughes led Lake with 20 points while Zywon Ledbetter added 12 points. Tim Norris and Brady McGee each had nine points apiece.
