The Lake boys managed to break out of a recent slump as they pulled out a 53-43 win over Puckett this week. They lost their other game 63-44 to Philadelphia.
The Lady Hornets weren’t as fortunate as they lost 63-27 to Puckett and 64-36 to Philadelphia.
Lake will host the Division 4-2A tournament this week as the Lady Hornets are the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 seed Union in an elimination game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Hornets will also play on Tuesday as they are the No. 4 seed and will take on Scott Central at 7:30 p.m. Winners advance to the tournament semifinals which will be played on Thursday.
Lake boys 53, Puckett 43
The Hornets outscored the Wolves in every period as they took a 10-point win on Tuesday night in non-division play.
Lake led 12-9 at the end of the first and outscored Puckett 17-13 in the second to lead 29-22 at the half. Lake outscored Puckett 11-10 in the third and 13-11 in the fourth to take the win.
Danarrious Hughes led Lake with 13 points while Zywon Ledbetter added nine points. J’Lann Broadfoot added seven points while Timothy Harris added six points.
Puckett girls 63, Lake 27
Puckett jumped out to a big first-period lead and ran away with the second half to take a big 36-point win over the Lady Cougars.
Puckett led 20-5 at the end of the first but Lake battled back in the second and outscored the Lady Wolves 15-4 to cut the lead to 24-20 at the half. But Puckett got rolling in the second half and outscored Lake 15-2 in the third and 24-5 in the fourth to take the win.
Philadelphia boys 63, Lake 44
The Tornadoes pulled away in the middle two periods and took a 29-point win over the Hornets.
Philly led just 15-11 at the end of the first before outscoring Lake 18-7 in the second to lead 33-18 at the half. The Tornadoes then outscored the Hornets 26-9 in the third to take a 59-27 lead into the fourth. Lake outscored Philly 17-4 in the fourh.
J’Lann Broadfoot led Lake with 14 points while Zywon Ledbetter had 11 points.
Philadelphia girls 64, Lake 36
The Lady Hornets were no match for the Lady Tornadoes as they dropped a 28-point decision on Friday.
Philly jumped out to a 23-10 lead and led 34-18 at the half. Philly continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Lake 15-10 in the third and 15-8 in the fourth.
Ameria Ervin led Lake with nine points while Laurel Breland and Lexi Buckley had seven points apiece.
