The Lake Lady Hornets won three of four contests last week, as they got off and running with their season.
The Lady Hornets opened the week with a 10-3 win over Pisgah before being shutout 7-0 by the state’s No. 1 team in Neshoba Central.
Lake rebounded with a pair of wins on Saturday, beating Sumrall 6-2 and Forrest County AHS 6-1 on Saturday.
Lake returned to play Monday, as they hosted West Lauderdale and traveled to Ethel on Tuesday. Lake will travel to West Harrison and play North Pike at 11:30 a.m. Saturday before playing Northwest Rankin at 5:30 p.m. the same day.
Lake 10, Pisgah 3
The Lady Hornets banged out 10 hits and took advantage of six errors to take a seven-run win over the Lady Dragons on Monday.
Pisgah scored one in the first and two in the fifth. Lake scored three in the first and one in the third and sixth and added five in the fourth.
Kaytie Hillman was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Landry LeBlanc was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Taylor Duncan and Reagan Clark were each 2-for-3 with one RBI. Laurel Breland singled and scored twice while Alana Edmonds scored two runs. Morgan Bounds also had two stolen bases.
Kate Gladney got the start on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out nine. Taylor Duncan pitched two innings and struck out three.
Neshoba Central 7, Lake 0
Like many an opponent, the Lady Hornets fell victim to Neshoba’s Aspen Wesley on Tuesday.
Wesley threw a perfect game, striking out all 21 Lake batters she faced.
Kate Gladney took the loss for Lake on the mound, going five innings, giving up five runs on six hits. Taylor Duncan pitched the final inning, giving up two runs on two hits.
Lake 6, Sumrall 2
The Lady Hornets scored four runs in the fourth to take a win over Sumrall on Saturday.
Sumrall scored two runs in the top of the second before Lake answered with one in the bottom of the second. The Lady Hornets took the lead with four in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Lake had five hits in the contest as Josie Gibbs singles, scored a run and had two RBIs. Aland Edmonds also singled and drove in a run while Reagan Clark had a double. Landry LeBlanc and Kaytie Hillman also had singles while Laneisha Palm scored twice and Morgan Bounds scored once. Kate Gladney also had an RBI.
Kate Gladney got the start and pitched 5 2/3 innings, picking up the win. She gave up two unearned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out nine.
Lake 6, Forrest County AHS 1
The Lady Hornets made the most of their eight hits and took a five-inning win over Forrest County on Saturday.
Forrest scored one in the top of the first before Lake scored two in the bottom of the first to go up 2-1. The Lady Hornets added one in the second and fifth and two in the fourth.
Lake had eight hits with four doubles. Josie Gibbs was 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI while Abby Pinter doubled and scored two runs. Kate Gladney and Laurel Breland doubled and scored a run while Reagan Clark tripled and drove in a run.
Brentlee McGee started in the circle and gave up one run on eight hits to pick up the win.
