Newton County Academy swept a pair of games from Kemper Academy last week.
The Generals picked up their first win with a 64-32 win over the Rams while the Lady Generals beat Kemper 39-19.
Last Saturday, the NCA girls beat Laurel Christian 46-22 while the NCA boys lost a tough 54-52 contest.
NCA will return to action this week when they travel to Park Place on Monday in their only scheduled action.
NCA boys 64, Kemper 32
The Generals grabbed their first win of the season as they hammered the Rams on Friday night.
The Generals outscored the Rams in every period as they led 17-9 at the end of the first and 33-17 at the half. The Generals continued to extend that lead in the second half as they outscored Kemper 14-10 in the third and 17-5 in the fourth.
Ethan McDill led the Generals in scoring as he pumped in 21 points and had eight rebounds while Luke Alexander had 13 points and four rebounds. Kemp Alderman put up his first double double of the season with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
NCA girls 39, Kemper 19
The Lady Generals turned up the heat in the second half to pull way and beat Kemper by 20.
The score was tied at 10-10 at the half before NCA outscored Kemper 15-2 in the third and 14-7 in the fourth.
“I was real pleased up until Friday night,” NCA coach Micheal Alexander said. “We couldn’t throw it in the ocean the first half but go things going in the second half. We were disappointed with the way we scored. Then I looked back on it and two years ago, that would have been a good scoring night for us so we have come a long way. We have more depth and senior leadership. I feel good about what we have this year.”
Kelli Hollingsworth led the Lady Generals with 10 points while Kaleigh Cosgrove had seven points. Anna Laurel Moody had six points and Jordan Russell chipped in five.

NCA 52
Laurel Christian used a big fourth period to take a two-point win over the Generals last week.
Laurel led 12-11 at the end of the first before NCA took the second period 14-8 to lead 25-20 at the half. The Generals extended that lead in the third period as they outscored Laurel 17-8 to take a 42-28 lead. But Laurel Christian battled back in the fourth and outscored the Generals 16-10 to take the win.
Luke Alexander had 23 points and 11 rebounds while Ethan McDill had 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Generals used a big second period to pull away and beat Laurel Christian last Saturday.
NCA led 11-6 at the end of the first and then outscored Laurel 17-1 in the second to lead 28-7 at the half and cruise to the win.
Kaleigh Cosgrove had 14 points while Kelli Hollingsworth had nine points and Anna Laurel Moody added seven points.
