Two-person shamble set for

Union Country Club will host a two-person shamble on July 6 and 7.
Tee times will be at 8:30 a.m. and at 1 p.m. both days. Entry fee is $45 per player and includes lunch Saturday and mulligans.

Four-Ball tournament
to be held July 13-14
The Creeper Nelson Memorial 28th Annual 4 Ball will be held at Newton Country Club on July 13 and 14.
Tee times will be at 8:30 a.m. and at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Early paid entries have the choice of tee times on Saturday.
Entry fee is $60 per player and includes dinner Saturday night. Participants must be at least 16 years old to play.For this tournament, players ages 16 to 59 will use the regular tees. Ages 60 to 74 will use the senior tees, and ages 75 and above will use the super senior tees.

Newton Country Club will host a 1-Person scramble Thursday, July 4.
Entry fee is $20 per person. Tee time will be at 1 p.m. Morning tee times to be used if needed.

Lake youth football, cheer registration nears
The Lake Youth Football association is seeking youth football players and cheerleaders for the upcoming 2019 season.
The association is joining Areawide Youth Football Elite this year, which will reduce travel time as well as implementing 8-man tinymite teams. Anyone interested in playing for Lake Youth Football or if you know of anyone age 5-12 (no seventh graders) that would like to be a part of Lake Youth Football, please contact Robert Savell at 601.919.7924. 5 ECCC teams recognized for academic success
Led by the Lady Warrior softball team, five East Central Community College varsity sports teams earned National Junior College Athletic Association Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention awards for having met the grade-point average requirement of 3.0 or better for the 2018-19 academic year.
With a 3.65 team GPA, the Lady Warrior women’s softball team led all softball programs in the 15-team Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and finished tied for third among all softball programs in the NJCAA.
The ECCC women’s tennis team finished seventh among all women’s tennis programs in the NJCAA with a 3.56 GPA. The Lady Warrior tennis team was No. 4 among all such programs in the MACJC.
The East Central men’s tennis team finished the year with a team GPA of 3.34, which ranked No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the state among men’s tennis programs
The Warrior baseball team compiled a 3.30 GPA and was tied for 23rd in the NJCAA among baseball teams and was No. 3 in the MACJC.
The ECCC women’s soccer team had a 3.08 team GPA and was tied for No. 50 in the NJCAA.
