shamble set for May 25-26
Newton Country Club will host its annual 2-Person Shamble Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26.
Entry fees are $30 per person and Includes mulligan. Tee times will be at 1 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Morning tee times to be used if needed.

Lake youth football, cheer registration nears
The Lake Youth Football association is seeking youth football players and cheerleaders for the upcoming 2019 season.
The association is joining Areawide Youth Football Elite this year, which will reduce travel time as well as implementing 8-man tinymite teams. Anyone interested in playing for Lake Youth Football or if you know of anyone age 5-12 (no seventh graders) that would like to be a part of Lake Youth Football, please contact Robert Savell at 601.919.7924. Harper, Harper, Denton take Jack & Jill tourney
Union Country Club hosted its Two Jacks and a Jill tournament Saturday and Sunday. Here are the final results:

ECCC’s Whitney Waters Signs with SUNO Basketball
East Central Community College sophomore forward Whitney Waters has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her basketball career next year at Southern University at New Orleans.
A product of Heidelberg High School, Waters averaged seven points and three rebounds a game this past season in helping lead the Lady Warriors to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 Tournament. She was voted the team’s Co-Most Valuable Offensive Player at the conclusion of the season and was selected for the 2019 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges All-Star Basketball Game.
The SUNO Lady Knights compete in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference of the NAIA.
ECCC Football Showcases set for Friday
The East Central Community College football program is hosting showcases for Class of 2020 players and Class of 2019 players are have not signed to play college football on Friday, May 24, at Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus in Decatur.
The showcase for the Class of 2020 players, or rising high school seniors, will begin at 9 a.m., with the showcase for class of 2019 unsigned players beginning at about Noon.
Players must bring cleats and workout gear. No helmet is required.
The cost is $5 per participant.
Any participant who graduated from high school prior to 2019 must bring an updated physical.
