Newton County, 5-11, 150
Henderson is another player that lost significant playing time last year with injury for the Cougars. Henderson broke his arm before the season ever started and didn’t return until the playoffs, where he provided a big boost for the Newton County offense, including the game-winning touchdown pass to beat Moss Point in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.
“He’s another one that we lost for most of last year but came back late,” Newton County coach Bobby Bass said. “He is a fierce competitor on the field. He made a big catch against Lanier in the first round and the game winner against Moss point. I expect him to have a really big year this year. He needs to put on some weight and pick up his work ethic in the weight room. If he can do that and put on some weight, he has the ability and on-the-field work ethic to play at the next level. He has really good hands and is not afraid to go after the football.”
