Both Union basketball teams picked up wins last week with sweeps over Noxapater and Morton.
The Yellowjackets beat Noxapater 68-42 and Morton 56-52 to improve to 9-2 on the season. Meanwhile the Lady Jackets cruised to a pair of wins as they beat Noxapater 43-15 and Morton 54-34.
Union returns to action this week as they host Newton County on Tuesday and Nanih Waiya on Saturday.
Union girls 43, Noxapater 15
The Lady Yellowjackets had little trouble as they dispatched of Noxapater on Tuesday.
Union led 10-4 at the end of the first and then outscored Noxapater 19-0 in the second period to lead 29-4 at the half. Union outscored Noxapater 14-8 in the third and led 43-12 at the end of the third.
Eryanna Mason led Union with 13 points while Ansley Rigby had eight points. Morgan Hunter had six points while Madison Buckley added five points.
Union boys 68, Noxapater 42
The Yellowjackets outscored the Tigers in every period as they took a solid 16-point win over Noxapater.
The game was tight in the first half as Union led 14-11 in the first and 29-25 at the half. But the Jackets exploded in the third period, outscoring Noxapater 27-8 to take a 56-33 lead going into the fourth.
Mark Jones had a big game as he pumped in a season-high 25 points while J.T. Vance added 16 points. E.J. Campbell had six points and Kenyon Clay added five points.
Union girls 54, Morton 34
The Lady Jackets used quick starts to both halves as they took a 20-point win over Morton on Friday.
Union jumped out to a 15-6 lead and led 23-15 at the half. The Lady Jackets pulled away in the third, outscoring Morton 14-4 to take a 37-19 lead going into the fourth.
Ansley Rigby led Union with 20 points while Eryanna Mason had 11 points and Keirra Russell added 10 points.
Union boys 56, Morton 52
The Yellowjackets overcame a first-half deficit to take a tight four-point win over the Panthers.
Union led 9-8 at the end of the first but trailed 23-20 at the half. Each team scored 23 points in the third period as Union trailed 46-43 going into the fourth. Union took the fourth period 13-6 to take the win.
P.J. Gage and Sage Gunn led Union with 14 points apiece while J.T. Vance had 11 points. Mark Jones added nine points.
