Union earns close win over Leake

Union split a pair of tennis matches last week as they took a thrilling 4-3 win over Leake Central but lost 7-0 to Forest.

Union 4, Leake Central 3

The ’Jackets took a tight one-point win over Leake Central last Tuesday.

In singles, Francelle Parija lost 6-0, 6-1 on the boys side while Destiny Edwards won on the girls side in a forfeit win.

In boys doubles, Union grabbed both points as Byars Cliburn and Sage Gunn won 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in a third-set tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot while Micheal Hurley and Cross Franklin won 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.

In girls doubles, Britley Milling and Meagan Graham lost 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot while Haley McKinnion and Logan McGraw won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 girls spot to secure the match.

E.J. Campbell and Mallory McGee lost 6-0, 6-1 at mixed doubles.

Forest 7, Union 0

Union dropped its record to 2-6 on the season with a shutout loss to Forest.

In singles, Francelle Parija lost 6-1, 6-2 while Britley Milling lost 6-0, 6-0 on the girls side.

In boys doubles, Byars Cliburn and Sage Gunn lost 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot while Micheal Hurley and Cross Franklin lost 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.

In girls doubles, Logan McGraw and Haley McKinnion lost 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Shania Moore and Meagan Graham lost 6-3, 6-2. In mixed doubles, Mallory McGee and E.J. Campbell lost 6-1, 6-1 at mixed doubles.
