The Union Lady Yellowjackets snapped a five-game losing streak last week and started another streak, this time winning three in a row.
Union started the week by taking a 3-0 lead over Sebastopol before the game was called due to rain. The Lady Jackets took that momentum and hammered Noxapater 13-0 on Thursday. On Saturday at the Enterprise Tournament, Union beat West Lauderdale 12-10 and Brookhaven 14-4.
“We were 2-2 early in the year and lost five straight but had played some good teams,” Union coach Jacob Casey said. “We hadn’t been playing up to our potential but started playing a little bit better. We were up 3-0 against Sebastopol and had played better and that just carried over against Noxapater. Then we played really, really well and beat two good teams on Saturday. It’s just one of those things that we have to hit the ball consistently. If we can do that, I think we will be OK.”
On Thursday, Union will travel to Philadelphia in a key division matchup. Union will finish the Sebastopol game on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
