Union took a pair of wins over Sebastopol to take the drivers seat in division play.
The Lady Yellowjackets finished a previously started game and beat Sebastopol 9-5 and then followed that up with an 8-7 win over the Lady Bobcats. In their other game last week, the Lady Yellowjackets lost a 13-3 decision to Newton County.
“We were 2-7 at one time and are now 8-8,” Union coach Jacob Casey said. “I think if we can be more consistent on offense, we’ve got a chance to be pretty good. Right now, we are 4-0 in the district and in good shape there.”
Union 9, Sebastopol 5
The Lady Jackets took their first win of the week against the Lady Bobcats, finishing off a game that was postponed because of rain.
Union led 3-0 when the game was restarted in the fourth inning.
Macy Lott and Lilly Burton each had a double and a single while Kayleigh Vance had two singles. Parker Breland and Ansley Rigby each had doubles in the contest as Union banged out 12 hits.
Newton County 13, Union 3
The Lady Yellowjackets came out of the gate fast with three runs in the first inning. But County used a 10-run third inning to take control of the contest. Union managed six hits, as Mackenzie Dolan had two singles.
Union 8, Sebastopol 7
The Lady Yellowjackets had a pair of big innings as they held on to take a one-run win over the Lady Bobcats and sweep the season series.
The Lady Jackets had 10 hits in the contest as Ashlynn Jenkins led the way with three singles. Lilly Burton had a double and a single while Parker Breland had a pair of singles.
