Multiple departments respond to wildfire

Multiple fire departments and the Mississippi Forestry Commission are on the scene of a significant wildfire on Hickory-Little Rock Road near Hickory Sunday afternoon.

The fire has already burned several acres of land and has endangered several homes in the 3000 block of Hickory-Little Rock Road.

Newton County School Board to meet tonight

The Newton County School District Board of Trustees are planning to have a special meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the law offices of Jason Mangum.

According to the agenda Mangum sent the Appeal and what was posted online, the meeting will have the following items on the agenda:

No injuries reported in school bus crash

A Newton County School District bus was involved in a crash on Hwy. 15 this morning, but school officials reported that there were no injuries.

Newton County Superintendent Dr. Tyler Hansford issued the following statement regarding the incident:
