Our Opinion: Initiative bill needs work before passing

A Mississippi Senate committee has passed a bill that would create a ballot initiative to replace the one voided by the state Supreme Court in 2021. What’s interesting, though, is that the existing bill, as presently written, would give the people less power than they used to have to force issues onto the ballot.

Ron DeSantis and Elon Musk are smart guys, but each of them has made a puzzling decision in recent days.

DeSantis, the governor of Florida, said last week that he wants permission from the state Supreme Court to convene a grand jury. Its assignment would be to investigate “any and all wrongdoing” involving covid-19 vaccines.
