UGF accepts donation from Hill

The Newton United Givers Fund accepted a $1,000 donation from Hill Real Estate on Thursday morning. On hand for the presentation were, from left, UGF board chairman Bob Beckley, UGF fundraising chairman Don Vares and Darryl Jackson, Dustin Hill and Barry Ward, all from Hill Real Estate.

Thornton signs scholarship

Union High School senior Henry Thornton signed Tuesday in the school library a scholarship to play baseball at East Central Community College.

The school conducted a ceremony for Thornton surrounded by his family, friends, coaches and school officials.
