Volleyball Roundup: Lady Cougars win tourney, hosts 21-6 Lake this week

The Newton County volleyball team won their end of the season tournament this past weekend.

The Lady Cougars opened the week with a 3-0 loss to Madison Central. They then responded with 2-0 wins over South Jones, Northeast Jones and Lake. They finished with a pair of 2-1 wins over Union.

Football: Generals dominate Saints in 36-0 win on the road

After a lackluster first half against Prentiss Christian, Newton County Academy coach Stevie Nelson had a “discussion” with his team on how they played.

The Generals responded with 22 third-quarter points as they rolled to a 36-0 win over the Saints.

NCA improves to 5-1 on the season and will have an off week this week.
