High School Football: Turnovers help Raleigh to 44-21 win over Cougars

What started off with a bang ended with a thud for Newton County on Friday night.

The Cougars opened the game with a 79-yard touchdown pass but then gave up 44 straight points as Raleigh took advantage of four turnovers to take a 44-21 win.

County falls to 1-1 on the season and will host Northeast Jones on Friday.

High School Football: Generals grind out 36-22 win at Christ Covenant

The Newton County Academy Generals just kept pounding away at Christ Covenant on Friday night.

The Generals rushed for 374 yards and took a 36-22 win over the Warriors to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Generals improve to 3-0 and will now host unbeaten Humphreys on Friday night in a matchup of 8-man contenders.

Union built a 14-0 lead and had a pair of 11-play scoring drives as they pulled away late to take a 26-13 win over Scott Central on Friday night.
