The Newton County tennis team got in three matches last week and brought home a pair of wins, beating Madison Central 5-2 and Northeast Jones 6-1. They lost their final match to Ocean Springs 6-1.
On Friday, Newton County beat Madison Central 5-2. In singles, Fisher Edwards lost 6-3, 6-1 on the boys side while Allisa Luke won 7-5, 6-2 on the girls side. In boys doubles, Drew Walker and Hayes Holliman won 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Carson Davis and Langston Coleman lost 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. In girls doubles, Katie Lynne McDonald and Reese Thoms won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Abby Williams and Erin Tullos won 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. In mixed doubles, Caden Chaney and Ellie Russell won 6-2, 6-4.
On Saturday at the Jones College Tournament, Newton County split a pair of matches, beating Northeast Jones 6-1 but falling 6-1 to Ocean Springs.
Against Northeast Jones, Newton County split the singles matches as Eli Walker lost 6-0, 6-0 on the boys side while Alissa Luke won 6-0, 6-0 on the girls side. Newton County moves to 5-2 on the season and will play at Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday and then play at the Warren Central Tournament on Saturday.

The Generals only played one match last week, falling 5-4 to Union.
In girls singles, NCA won both points as Maddy Smith won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot while Jamie Stamper won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
In girls doubles, Union won both points as Denver McCoy and Rylee Pullin beat Lanee Parks and Cloe Weems 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot while Annley Howell and Ava Smith beat Karlie Stamper and Celi Weems 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.
In mixed doubles, Cooper Capps and Julia Harrison beat Brooklyn Vaughn and Asher Trammel 6-0, 6-0.
Union won both of the boys singles spots as Ethan Brasher won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while Jude Feasel beat Trent Wright 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
In boys doubles, Garrett Estes and Eli Herrington won 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Andrew Boothe and Saxton Hollingsworth won 5-7, 6-4, 13-11 in a third-set tiebreaker.
