Urbo Crossing Creamery distributes local milk to stores
If you’re a milk connoisseur and only indulge in the freshest of the fresh when it comes to moo juice, then Urbo Crossing Creamery at Poplar Springs Farm has you covered.
The creamery is locally owned and operated at Poplar Springs Farm in Newton. Hunter and Sarah Vance partnered with the owner of Poplar Springs Farms, Paul Edwards, to start up what would eventually become the Urbo Crossing Creamery.
“Poplar Springs Farm has been in operation for 37 years, and it’s grown in many ways each year,” said Sarah Vance. “Through the years Paul has hired people to help out around the farm and a few of those people were myself and my two sisters. After teaching me so much in the 19 years I’ve worked at the farm, he gave my husband and I an opportunity to partner with him to do on-farm processing, which has become Urbo Crossing Creamery at Poplar Springs Farm.”
The creamery, named after the railroad station on Potterchitto Road, offers half-gallons of whole white milk and chocolate milk. The milk is produced by 15 cows at Poplar Springs Farms, with plans to add up to 16 more soon. Each cow produces up to 6 gallons of milk per day and is processed and pasteurized right at the creamery.
Tony Adams, who is also partnered with Poplar Springs Farms in producing the fresh dairy products locally, said that for the time being, they will stick to whole and chocolate milk. But eventually they hope to offer some other products.
“There are some potentials for other flavors, like strawberry, cookies and cream, orange cream, and vanilla,” said Adams. “We’re going to do buttermilk eventually and maybe butter.”
Customers are welcomed to purchase milk directly at the creamery, located at 2935 Potterchitto Road in Newton. Business hours are 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Urbo Crossing Milk can also be found at several supermarkets and businesses located in Newton County and surrounding counties.
