Independence Day arrives in just two weeks and local residents will have an opportunity to start the celebration with a bang by spending an evening at the Turkey Creek Water Park for their annual fireworks extravaganza.
The water park, located at 142 Parkway Drive in Decatur, will host their Annual Independence Day Fireworks Show on Wednesday, July 3, beginning at 9 p.m., however park manager Pam Engle invites everyone to come spend the afternoon at the park, where there will be plenty of food and fun.
“People can come at any time, we’ll be open all day long. Usually at around mid-afternoon some people will come and get parked, set up tents and bring games to play, which we encourage. We’ll be playing music that evening, we will have the National Guards Kids Zone again this year and it’s usually set up around 2 p.m., we’re going to have a Face Painter, and a water slide,” aid Engle. “This year, we’re doing things a little different by having food vendors. So, we’ll have Munchie’s N’ More and Mando’s food trucks on hand to provide food, and Juicy Guru will be offering loaded teas. The Decatur Fire Department will also be on hand taking donations.”
The cost to attend the evening of fun will be $10 per car. Those that would like to launch their boats are welcomed to do so, however they will have to pay the $12 boat launch fee on top of the carload fee. They also encourage attendees to bring their chairs and blankets to make their nights even more enjoyable.
“It’s going to be another fun day on July 3, celebrating Independence Day,” said Engle. “We welcome all to come on out bring their tents, lawn chairs, boats, whatever they want to set up, hang out, let the kids have some fun, and enjoy the fireworks.”
