The Union basketball teams had a big week on the basketball courts.
The Lady Yellowjackets took a pair of wins as they hammered Stringer 66-28 and then beat Pisgah 43-37. The Yellowjackets beat Stringer 50-42 and Pisgah 73-60 to stay unbeaten.
Union will return after the Thanksgiving break when they host Leake County on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Union will then play in the Sebastopol Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Union girls 66, Stringer 28
The Lady Yellowjackets had little trouble with the Lady Red Devils last week.
Union jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the first period and led 36-11 at the half. Union continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Stringer 13-4 in the third and 17-13 in the fourth.
Union used a balanced scoring attack in the win as Taniqua Hunter had 11 points while Georgia Cooper and Kamyia Russell each had nine points apiece. Trinity Lambert and Madison Buckley each had eight points apiece
Union boys 50, Stringer 42
The Yellowjackets outscored the Red Devils in each of the first three periods and took an eight-point win.
Union led 12-5 at the end of the first and outscored Stringer 17-15 in the second to lead 29-20 at the half. Union took the third period 10-5 and led 39-25 at the end of the third. Stringer outscored Union 17-11 in the fourth for the final margin.
J.T. Vance led Union with 20 points while Jamarcus Jones had eight points. Jada Russell had seven points while Kenyon Clay and E.J. Campbell each had six points apiece.
Union girls 43, Pisgah 37
The Lady Yellowjackets built a big first-half lead and held on to take a six-point win over the Lady Dragons.
Union jumped out to a 11-4 lead at the end of the first and led 21-16 at the end of first half. Union extended its lead in the third period as they outscored Pisgah 16-11 to lead 37-27 going into the fourth.
Keirra Russell led Union with 13 points while Keshona Smoot and Trinity Lambert each had eight point apiece.
Union girls 73, Pisgah 60
The Yellowjackets broke open a tight game in the third period to take a 13-point win over the Dragons.
Union led 21-18 at the end of the first period and outscored Pisgah 13-11 in the second to lead 34-29 at the half. Union then pulled away in the third, outscoring the Dragon 25-13 to lead 59-42 heading to the fourth.
Jamarcus Jones had a huge game with 29 points while J.T. Vance added 22 points. Dorian Hunter also chipped in eight points.
