FOOTBALL: UNION 45, EAST WEBSTER 24: ‘Jackets win big on homecoming

After a physical loss to Newton County last week, first-year Union coach Jordan Wren was anxious to see how his team would respond against 2A North contender East Webster.

But, the Yellowjackets rebounded from their first loss to take a 45-21 win over the Wolverines on Friday night.

Newton County’s Frink wins Okatibbee meet

Newton County’s Isaac Frink continued his strong running this fall as he won the Okatibbee meet on Saturday hosted by West Lauderdale.

Frink finished first in the even with an overall time of 18:43, which was 22 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Union looks to rebound

One of last year’s best games was between Union and East Webster.

And first-year Union coach Jordan Wren said he expects it to be another good game this year.

The Wolverines are 2-1 on the season with wins over Vardaman (55-21) and East Union (42-20). Their lone loss is to 3A Choctaw County (50-18).
