Preview: WEEK 1 – Five of six teams are in action this Friday night

The Mississippi High School Activities Association will finally kick off the 2020 football season this week.

Four of the six schools in the Newton County Appeal’s coverage area will kick off the season this week; with the exception of Newton, who is open after losing North Forrest.

VOLLEY BALL – Lady Yellowjackets earn first win for program

The Union volleyball program tipped off its inaugural season this past week with a pair of games.

The Lady Yellowjackets opened the season at West Lauderdale, where they lost 3-0 to the Lady Knights, falling 27-25, 25-17 and 25-21.

Despite the loss, coach Jacob Casey said he was pleased with what he saw.
