In a recent classroom assignment, 3rd grade students at Union Elementary School had the opportunity to exercise their writing skills by composing opinion pieces. The assignment, designed to encourage critical thinking and personal expression, required students to read a passage about the debate of wearing school uniforms. Students then discussed the pros and cons of being required to wear school uniforms.
Each student was tasked with clearly stating their opinion, supporting it with reasons, and concluding with a strong closing statement. With guidance from their teacher, the young writers explored how to effectively structure their thoughts, develop compelling arguments, and present their ideas in a clear and organized way.
This writing exercise not only helped students improve their writing skills but also promoted confidence in their ability to express themselves. It’s an important step in their academic journey, and the students of Union Elementary are eager to continue sharpening their writing ability in future assignments.
In my opinion, I think kids should not wear uniforms to school. I feel this way because when you wear them all day, you might feel itchy and not comfortable. In fact, you might not be able to pay attention because you are uncomfortable. Now you will agree that students should not wear uniforms. -Piper Holley, 3rd grade student
In my opinion, I think kids should wear uniforms. To begin with, you will not get bullied if you are all wearing the same thing. Another thing is that you can match your friends, and you will not get lost. For example, if you are in a group on a field trip, you will not get lost because you are all wearing the same thing. Teachers can see students better. Now you will agree that we need to wear uniforms. -Bailey Murrell, 3rd grade student
My opinion is that kids should wear uniforms. One reason is so that students will not be bullied and made fun of or called names because of their clothes. For example, if students wear uniforms they will not be bullied because everyone will be dressed the same. Another reason is parents won't have to spend all of their money on clothes for school. Uniforms are cheaper than other clothes. It is clear that students should wear uniforms. -Baylor McCoy, 3rd grade student
In my opinion, kids should wear uniforms. Let me tell you why. Kids should wear uniforms to stop kids from bullying other students for their clothing. Some kids' clothing might have holes in them, and that could cause them to get bullied. As you can see, students should wear uniforms to school. -Halen Stokes, 3rd grade student
