The Union Karate Club held their Ribbon Cutting on Oct. 9, surrounded by students, parents, town officials, and members of the community.
After the ribbon cutting, those in attendance were invited in for a tour of the dojo, a demonstration led by students, and snacks.
The Union Karate Club, located at 313 Bank Street in Union, specializes in teaching Shotokan Karate, a traditional Japanese martial art that builds character, discipline, and confidence through structured training. The program also includes Sport Karate, where students refine their skills for friendly competition. The dojo offers a safe, structured environment with certified instructors.
Manager Kristy Warren shared that the Union dojo, which opened back in April, has two sister dojos in Meridian are and the other in Laurel, and they are overseen by her instructor that she’s been with for over forty years. She added that the Union Karate Club offers a Lil Dragon Program for students ages 4-6, as well as combined classes for youth, teen, and adults.
“Our youngest student is three, and our oldest in their fifties,” said Warren. “We’re at capacity now, but we will post on our Facebook page when we have some openings.”
