The Union Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2nd annual Union Day Festival. The activities of this family-friendly festival will extend over a three-day period from Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 15, 2019.
On Thursday, June 13, a Little Miss/Mister Summertime Pageant will be held at the Union Mini Park on Bank Street. The pageant starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public for a small admission fee at the gate. Children from 0-12 are eligible to participate as contestants for a $10 entry fee. The dress is summertime attire (no swimsuits). Deadline for entry is Friday, June 7.
On Friday, June 14, the Union Day Talent Showcase will be held at 7 p.m. at the downtown Union Mini Park. The contest is open to the public for a small admission fee at the gate. Cash prizes of $100, $50, and $25 will be award for the top three acts in each of three age divisions: Up to 12, 13 - 18, and 19 and over. The showcase is open to all types of family appropriate talent, including singers, dancers, gymnasts, magicians, instrumentalists, comedians and more. Participants must register and pay a $20 entry fee by Thursday, June 13.
The Union Day street festival kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 and continues until 4 p.m. A car show will be held that morning, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. at the City Park. The main stage for the event will be located at the downtown mini park and will host political speakers and entertainment throughout the day. The featured entertainment is Todd Smith, the well-known magician from Sebastopol. Downtown Union will be filled with booths featuring arts and crafts vendors, retail merchandise, food items, political candidates, local business information and promotional giveaways. There will be a kid’s zone and food trucks.
Vendor spaces are still available for the street festival and can be reserved for $50 per each 10-foot by 10-foot space through June 7. Electricity is available for an additional $5 per space.
The Union Chamber of Commerce is pleased to coordinate this annual event for the citizens of Union and surrounding communities. Downtown Union is located just west of Highway 15 and about 16 miles north of I-20 at the Newton, Mississippi exit.
