A softball and corn hole tournament will be taking place in Union at the end of April, all in the name of raising money for a scholarship fund in memory of Nolan Norris, who lost his life to a traffic accident in 2021.
Both tournaments will be on April 29 at the ball fields located at 1001 East Jackson Road in Union, with proceeds going toward the Nolan Riley Norris Scholarship Fund, which will go to two Union High School seniors that need some help attending college.
Madison Norris, Nolan’s mother, said that the family organized the scholarship fund to give back to the Union community. “The people of Union rallied around us after the accident. We were complete strangers to these people,” Norris said. “We wanted to do something to give back and to also keep Nolan’s memory alive.”
The 3rd Annual Nolan Riley Norris Co-Ed Softball Tournament will begin at 7 a.m. on April 29.
The tournament’s field of teams has been completed, with there being a total of ten teams. All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the scholarship fun.
The Nolan Norris Memorial Cornhole Tournament will begin at 10 a.m., with half of the proceeds going toward the scholarship fund and the other half going to the players.
Entrance fees for the Cornhole Tournament is $40 per team BYOP (bring your own partner) and $10 for Blind Draw.
There will also be food, bounce houses, face painting and other activities that day.
