According to a statement from the Union Police Department, the suspect in the May 22 shooting that occured at Union Square Apartments,Javeon McClelland, turned himself in to UPD today at 4:10 p.m.
UNION, MS — The Union Police Department confirmed in a statement released this afternoon that a shooting occurred in Union late last night, resulting in a juvenile being wounded.
According to the City of Union Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Union Square Apartments at approximately 10:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities confirmed that the shot was a 5.56 caliber round fired from an AR-15-style pistol.
The shooter was positively identified as Javeon McClelland of Union, MS.
