A local Newton County resident, Dolores Townsend of Union, MS., was inducted into the Mississippi Quilt Association’s group of Legacy Quilters.
MQA began recognizing Legacy Quilters statewide in 2010. Each year, up to 10 quilters are recognized for their contribution to the craft of quilting. Legacy Quilters are people who love to make, talk and teach the craft of quilt making, whether by hand or machine. The quilter ust be 65 or older; but does not have to be an MQA member. Nor do their quilts have to have been displayed at a quilt show. The Legacy Quilter must have a love of making quilts for all occasions - babies, graduation, weddings, charity, or just because.
If you know of someone who meets the requirements listed, why not nominate them to become a MQA Legacy Quilter. Nominations are open for 2024 and beyond. Simply contact Dolores Townsend at dntownsend5@aol.com for further information.
