The Newton Lady Cougars won both of their matches last week to improve to 11
On Tuesday, County beat Sumrall 3-1. Newton County dropped the first set 25-23 before bouncing back and taking the next three sets 25-20.
On Thursday, the Lady Cougars easily handled Northeast Jones 3-0, winning 25-21, 25-16 and 25-16.
The Lady Cougars were scheduled to play at Enterprise on Monday and at Lake on Thursday in a showdown of state championship contenders.
Union
The Lady Yellowjackets grabbed a pair of big wins last week against Class 4A competition, beating Northeast Lauderdale and West Lauderdale.
Against Northeast on Tuesday, Union won 3-0, winning 25-23, 31-29 and 25-19.
Against West on Thursday, Union cruised to a 3-0 win, winning 25-14, 25-17 and 25-11.
Union improves to 9-4 on the season and was scheduled to play at Kosciusko on Monday and then host West Lauderdale and Lamar on Thursday. On Saturday, they are scheduled to take on Northeast Lauderdale, Lake and Warren Central.
Lake
The Lady Hornets improved to 6-1 on the season as they picked up two more wins last week.
On Tuesday, Lake beat Clarkdale 3-1 and then beat Stringer 3-1 on Thursday.
Lake is scheduled to host Newton County on Thursday and then take on Warren Central, Union and Northeast Lauderdale on Saturday.
Sebastopol
The Lady Bobcats split a pair of games last week to move to 3-6 on the season.
On Tuesday, the Lady Bobcats took 3-0 winnower Pelahatchie.
On Friday, Sebastopol lost 3-0 to Pisgah, falling 25-13, 25-5 and 25-16.
The Lady Bobcats are scheduled to host Clarkdale on Tuesday and then host Enterprise on Thursday.
Newton
The Newton Lady Tigers split a pair of games last week and suffered their first loss of the season.
Against Raleigh, the Lady Tigers took a 3-1 win, winning 25-21, 25-19, 11-25, 25-13.
On Thursday, the Lady Tigers dropped their first game, falling 3-0, losing 25-17, 25-20 and 25-8.
Newton was scheduled to play at Bay Springs on Monday and at Forest on Tuesday.
