The Newton County volleyball team took a pair of division wins last week as they took a pair of 3-0 wins over Northeast Lauderdale and West Lauderdale.
On Tuesday, they beat Northeast Lauderdale 3-0 as well. Newton County dominated the first set 25-6 and then won 25-21 and 25-12 to take the win.
On Thursday, Newton County took a 3-0 win over rival West Lauderdale. The Lady Cougars won 25-14, 25-23 and 25-16 to take the division win.
Newton County improved to 22-4 with the win. They were scheduled to play at Neshoba Central on Monday and then host Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday at host West Lauderdale on Thursday.
Union
The Lady Yellowjackets took two easy division wins last week, hammering Southeast Lauderdale and St. Andrew’s.
On Tuesday, Union smashed Southeast Lauderdale 3-0, winning 25-6, 25-5 and 25-6.
On Thursday, they also hammered St. Andrew’s 3-0, winning 25-11, 25-14 and 25-9.
Union improved to 19-8 on the season and 4-0 in division play. They are sculled to host Pisgah on Thursday in their only scheduled action this week.
Lake
The Lake Lady Hornets took two shutout wins last week as they opened district play.
On Tuesday, Lake pounded Newton 3-0, winning 25-7, 25-10 and 25-18.
On Thursday, Lake also beat Pelahatchie 3-0. No set scores were available.
Lake improves to 15-4 on the season and will host Newton on Tuesday and then play at Scott Central on Thursday.
Newton
The Lady Tigers won just one out of three games last week.
Newton opened the week with a 3-2 win over Philadelphia and then lost 3-0 to Lake on Tuesday. They finished the week with a 3-1 loss to Scott Central.
Newton has one game scheduled this week as they play at Lake on Thursday.
Sebastopol
The Lady Bobcats won its second straight district game last week.
The Lady Bobcats beat Noxapater 3-2 on Tuesday in their only action.
Their Thursday match with Leake County was cancelled.
