Merely days before Thanksgiving, two acts of generosity unfolded over the weekend in Newton, all in the name helping those in need put food on their table for the holidays.
On Friday and Saturday, Lamar Pruitt partnered with “It’s Wrap Roll’n Café” owner Crystal Jones to host a Food Drive at Ray Payne Park in Downtown Newton, challenging the community to “pack the food truck” with food items to be delivered to the Mississippi Regional Housing Authority V Food Pantry.
Also on Saturday, Eric and Katrina McCalphia, with High-Quality Construction, held their 6th Annual Turkey and Ham Giveaway at Morning Star Baptist Church in Newton, where they handed out turkey’s and hams to elderly residents and others in need.
