The Union boys picked up three wins this past week, including a pair of Division 5-3A victories.
The Union boys beat Clarkdale 62-41 on Tuesday and took a big 44-41 win over Forest on Friday. Union then beat Raleigh 71-13 on Saturday.
The Union girls won two out of three games, beating Clarkdale 57-21. After a 56-38 win over Forest, Union beat Raleigh 55-23.
Union has three games scheduled this week as they will host Enterprise on Tuesday and Southeast Lauderdale on Friday. They will finish the week by host French Camp on Saturday in their last home game of the year.
Union boys 62, Clarkdale 41
The Yellowjackets dominated the middle two periods and took a 21-point win over the Bulldogs last week.
Union led 14-10 at the end of the first and then outscored Clarkdale 16-7 in the second to lead 30-17 at the half. Union put the game away in the third, outscoring Clarkdale 16-7 to lead 44-22 going to the fourth. The Bulldogs took the fourth period 19-18 for the final margin.
Keon Hutchins led Union with 17 points while U’Darrion Hickman had 15 points. Kamarion Rushing had nine points while Johannes Hellman and Michael Buffington each had seven points apiece.
Union girls 57, Clarkdale 21
The Lady Yellowjackets started fast and cruised to a 36-point win over the Lady Bulldogs.
Union jumped out to a 25-1 lead in the first period and outscored Clarkdale 14-7 in the second to lead 39-8 at the half. Union then outscored Clarkdale 14-5 in the third and led 53-13 going to the fourth. Clarkdale took the fourth 8-4 for the final margin.
Gracyn Tillman led Union with 14 points while Kylee Madden had 13 points. Rymia Craft had nine points while Morgan Shaw had seven points and Sydney Coward chipped in six points.
Union boys 44, Forest 41
The Yellowjackets used a big fourth period to take a three-point win over the Bearcats.
Forest led 11-9 at the end of the first and 23-19 at the half. Forest then outscored Union 8-6 in the third and led 31-25 going to the fourth. But Union then outscored Forest 19-10 in the fourth to take the lead with 20 seconds left in the game.
The Bearcats missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer giving Union the win.
Kamarion Rushing led Union with 17 points while U’Darrion Hickman had eight points. Keon Hutchins and Michael Buffington each had five points apiece.
Forest girls 56, Union 38
The Lady Bearcats outscored the Lady Yellowjackets in the first three periods and took an 18-point win.
Forest outscored Union 13-7 in the first and 18-14 in the second to lead 31-21 at the half. Forest then outscored Union 14-3 and led 45-24 going to the fourth. Union took the fourth period 14-11 for the final margin.
Kylee Madden led Union with 23 points.
Union boys 71, Raleigh 13
The Yellowjackets dominated play early and cruised to a 58-point win over the Lions.
Union outscored Raleigh 23-7 in the first and 21-2 in the second and led 44-9 at the half. With a running clock in the second half, Union outscored Raleigh 17-2 in the third and 10-2 in the fourth.
Michael Buffington led Union with 10 points while Ethan Brasher and Michael Gibson each had nine points apiece. Kamani Townsend also chipped in eight points.
Union girls 55, Raleigh 23
The Lady Yellowjackets dominated the first half and cruised to a 32-point win over the Lady Lions.
Union jumped out to a 25-5 lead in the first and outscored Raleigh 17-4 in the second to lead 42-9 at the half. Raleigh took the third period 6-0 while Union outscored the Lady Lions 13-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Gracyn Tillman and Morgan Shaw each had 11 points apiece for Union while Rymia Craft had nine points. Kylee Madden, Julia Harrison and Sydney Coward each had five points apiece.
