The Union Yellowjackets won three out of four games this past week, including three division wins.
Union swept Scott Central 15-6 and 13-6 on Monday and then followed with a 17-0 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday. Union then fell 13-3 to Saturday.
Union will travel to Lake on Tuesday in a matchup for the Division 5-2A championship on the line. Union will host Lake on Friday. Union will host Enterprise on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
Union 17, Philadelphia 0
The Yellowjackets got a no-hitter from Judd Young and took a three-inning, run-rule win over the Tornadoes on Tuesday.
Union scored four in the first, three in the second and finished with 10 in the third.
Union had 10 hits and took advantage of 12 walks. Jaylon Buckley was 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored and four RBIs. Henry Thornton was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Kolton Cockerham doubled, walked twice and scored three runs while Rope Lovern walked twice and scored three runs. Zack Carnell walked twice, singled and had three RBIs while Preston Germany walked twice.
Young pitched all three innings and gave up just three walks while striking out six.
Union 13, Scott Central 6
The Yellowjackets broke open a tight game with 11 runs in the third inning to take a seven-run win over the Rebels on Monday in the second game of a doubleheader.
After the 11-run third, Scott Central scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth. Union finished with two in the fourth while Scott Central scored one in the seventh.
Union had nine hits and drew 10 walks in the game. Peyton Posey was 2-for-2 with two walks and three RBIs while Preston Germany was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Henry Thornton was 2-for-4 while Kolton Cockerham walked three times and scored twice. Kenyon Clay scored three runs while Gavin Heath scored two runs.
Jaylon Buckley started on the mound and pitched five innings, going up four run-on one hit and five walks while striking out 10. Zack Carnell pitched 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on two hits while Jacob Moore pitched the last inning without giving up a run.
Union 15, Scott Central 6
The Yellowjackets scored in six of the seven innings and took a nine-run win over the Rebels on Monday in the first game of a division doubleheader.
Union scored two in the first and three in the second and led 5-1. After Scott Central scored one in the second and two in the third, Union answered with two in the fourth, four in the fifth, one in the third and three in the seventh. Scott Central answered with three in the bottom of the seventh for the final margin.
Union had 16 hits in the contest as Kolton Cockerham was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four runs scored. Peyton Posey was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Rope Lovern was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Henry Thornton was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Preston Germany was 2-for-4 with a triple while Judd Young was 2-for-5. Jaylon Buckley was 2-for-4 with three runs scored as well.
Thornton started on the mound and pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up three unearned runs on five walks while striking out three. Germany pitched the last 4 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four.
