The Newton County Academy Generals split a pair of games last week in district play.
The Generals lost a tough 4-3 game to Kemper Academy on Tuesday but responded with a 21-1 blowout win over Hebron Christian on Thursday.
NCA will finish the regular season this week as they travel to Hebron on Monday. The Generals will host Meridian Home School on Tuesday and then host Laurel Christian on Saturday.
Kemper 4, NCA 3
The Rams scored three runs in the sixth inning and took a one-run win over the Generals on Tuesday in a district contest.
NCA scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth and led 3-0. Kemper scored one in the bottom of the fourth and then three in the sixth.
NCA outhit Kemper 7-4 in the contest. Austin Upton was 2-for-4, stole two bases and scored a run. Braxton Kelly and Micah Garrison each singled and scored while Lee Hollingsworth singled and drove in two runs. Garrett Loper also singled and drove in a run.
Upton started on the mound and pitched all six innings, giving up four runs, only one earned, on four hits and three walks while striking out nine.
NCA 21, Hebron Christian 1
The Generals scored early and often and took a three-inning, run-rule win over the Eagles on Thursday.
Hebron scored one in the top of the first and NCA followed with seven in the first and then scored 14 in the second.
NCA outhit Hebron 12-2 and took advantage of six walks and six hits. Austin Upton was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs. Lee Hollingsworth was 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs while Micah Garrison was 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Garrett Loper was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Jax Porter singled, walked twice, scored twice and drove in three runs. Braxton Kelly scored two runs and had two RBIs while Leyton Porter scored three runs and Ryan Moore scored twice.
Jax Porter started on the mound and pitched all three innings, giving up one run on two hits and five walks while striking out eight.
