It was another mixed week for the Union baseball team.
The Yellowjackets got a no-hitter from Jaylon Buckley in a 5-0 win over Sebastopol on Tuesday but then dropped an 11-5 decision to Enterprise on Saturday.
Union is scheduled to play at Sebastopol on Monday and then begin division play at Scott Central on Tuesday and then host the Rebels on Thursday.
Enterprise 11, Union 5
The Bulldogs used a pair of big innings and took a six-run win over the Yellowjackets on Saturday.
Enterprise scored a single run in the first inning and Union tied it up with a run in the top of the fourth. But Enterprise scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 5-1. Union answered with three runs in the fifth to pull within 5-4. But the Yellowjackets never got any closer and Enterprise closed out with five runs in the sixth to take the win.
Union had 12 hits in the contest. Kolton Cockerham was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Jaylon Buckley was 2-for-5. Rope Lovern was 2-for-3 while Henry Thornton singled and drove in three runs. Peyton Posey singled and scored two runs.
Preston Germany pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up 10 runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four. Zack Carnell pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up one run on one hit and one walk.
