The Newton County Academy girls finished out the regular season this week with a dominant win over their rivals.
The Lady Generals beat rival Sylva Bay 63-32 but lost 61-41 to Benton.
The Generals lost both games, falling 43-17 to Sylva Bay and 62-51 to Benton.
The NCA girls are the No. 2 seed in the district tournament this week and will take on the winner of Laurel Christian and Prentiss on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Lamar Christian. The championship game is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The NCA boys finished as the No. 6 seed and will take on Laurel Christian on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. The winner of Laurel and NCA will take on Sylva Bay on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.
NCA girls 63, Sylva Bay 32
The Lady Generals outscored the Lady Saints in every period and cruised to a 31-point win.
NCA jumped out to a 15-6 lead in the first period and then outscored Sylva Bay 22-10 in the second to lead 37-16 at the half. NCA continued to extend its lead in the second half and outscored Sylva Bay 16-11 in the third and 10-5 in the fourth to take the easy win.
Addie Bergeron led a balanced NCA scoring attack with 13 points while Macie Woodham had 11 points. Sydnee Cosgrove had 10 points while Addison Mathis had nine points. Ayden McDill had seven points while Piper Collins had six points.
Sylva Bay boys 43, NCA 17
The Saints dominated the first half and cruised to a 26-point win over the Generals.
Sylva Bay outscored NCA 16-2 in the first and 16-1 in the second to lead 32-3 at the half. Sylva Bay outscored NCA 8-5 in the third to lead 40-8 going to the fourth. The Generals took the fourth period 9-3 for the final margin.
Kelley Skipper led NCA with eight points.
Benton girls 61, NCA 41
The Lady Raiders built a big lead in the second period and held on to take a 20-point win over the Lady Generals.
Benton led 16-13 at the end of the first and then outscored NCA 25-5 in the second to lead 41-18 at the half. NCA fought back in the third period and outscored Benton 17-7 to cut the lead 48-35 going to the fourth. Benton took the fourth period 13-6 for the final margin.
Addie Bergeron led NCA with 11 points while Macie Woodham had 10 points. Sydnee Cosgrove had nine points while Ayden McDill had six points.
Benton boys 62, NCA 51
The Raiders finished strong to rally and take an 11-point win over the Generals.
NCA outscored Benton 16-13 in the first period and 14-12 in the second to lead 30-25 at the half. Benton then outscored NCA 15-12 in the third to cut the lead to 42-40 going to the fourth. Benton then outscored NCA 22-9 in the final period to pull away and take the win.
NCA had one of its best scoring games of the season as Kelley Skipper led the Generals with 13 points and Noah Agent had 11 points. Cooper Savell had eight points while Tyler Castillo and J.C. Collins had six points.
