Newton Police Chief Randy Patrick has asked for an extended leave of absence due to personal reasons, according to Mayor Antonio Hoye.
Patrick apparently announced his decision Tuesday night to the Newton Board of Mayor and Aldermen during an executive session, which was not on the original agenda but was added at the request of Hoye.
