The bi-annual Highway 15 Yard Sale’s second event of the year will be happening on Oct.1-4.
The event spans from Newton to Louisville. Vendors set up along the route and sell to shoppers.
Vendors will be opening around 7 or 8 a.m. each day and closing once the sun sets.
The Highway 15 Flea Market will be one of the businesses in Union that is participating in the event. Michelle Herrington said that they have been participating in the sale for quite some time.
“We’ve been involved with it for about three years. Usually, we rent out spaces for vendors to come in and set up for the sale,” said Herrington.
Herrington also said that they have all of their spaces already rented out for the October event.
“We’re expecting an unbelievable turn out. We had our biggest turn out yet at the event in June and we expect even more to show up in Oct.”
There will also be vendors set up at the Highway 15 Flea Market selling food and snow cones.
Jus’ Pickin in Philadelphia is also one of the local businesses participating in the four day sale.
Owner Timothy Bozeman is the main organizer for the event. Bozeman manages the event’s Facebook page, Hwy. 15 Yard Sale, and is in charge of mapping out the spots for vendors along the sale rout.
Bozeman said that the sale in Oct. is expected to be one of the largest that they’ve had.
“We’ve recruited more vendors for the sale than we have ever had.I think we’ll see the largest amount of shoppers show up compared to other years.
Bozeman went on to say that the bi-annual yard sale is great for local businesses.
“Bringing in all of the shoppers for the events also benefits the local businesses. If they’re here for the sale, then they’re likely to spend money at other stores in the area.”
Larry Blackburn is a Decatur local that will also be participating in the event. Blackburn said that he will have items for sale, including some antiques.
“I primarily do it as a hobby. Some people save stuff up all year and sell it at the event as their job. We will have about four vendors set up at E & B Emporium,” said Blackburn.
