The Newton Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted down a motion 2-3 to terminate Randy Patrick as the Newton Chief of Police.

Alderman Bob Bridges made a motion to terminate Patrick, which was seconded by Alderman Dan Moncrief.
Bridges and Moncrief voted "yea" while Alderwoman Temeka Drummond and Alderman Eric McCalphia voted "nay."
Longtime Alderman Michael Hillie was not present during any of the special meeting.
Mayor Antonio Hoye broke the tie and voted "nay" to keep Patrick as chief.
