Since being named 2024 Distinguished Young Woman of Newton County in April, Aleah McMullan has been focused on one thing: competing in the state program. This week, her time to shine will come as the 2024 Distinguished Young Woman of Mississippi Program three-night event gets under way in Meridian at The Evangel Temple.
McMullan will be one of 30 Mississippi high school seniors competing for more than $33,000 in college scholarships during the 67th year of the program that celebrates and spotlights the outstanding achievements of the state’s best and brightest high school girls.
The program gets underway on Thursday, July 13 and concludes on Saturday, July 15, with doors opening nightly at 6:30 p.m. and each show starting at 7:30 promptly.
McMullan, the daughter of Stephen and Eileen McMullan of Decatur, attends Newton County High School, where she has an impressive list of academic accomplishments, memberships and hobbies including Varsity Cheer, Tennis, Volleyball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership Team, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and Powerlifting.
The winner of the Distinguished Young Woman of Mississippi will compete in the DYW of 2024 finals in June of 2024, held in Mobile, Alabama.
