The polls are closed in the Decatur special election to decide the status of alcohol sales.
According to election officials, 304 votes have been cast in the election with thirty-five absentee votes. All but two absentee votes have been received.
The town board of aldermen will meet on Thursday at 5 p.m. to pass its alcohol ordinance if either alcohol issue passes.
Issue 1: “The legal sale of light wine of an alcoholic content of not more than five percent (5%) by weight, light spirit product of an alcoholic content of not more than four percent (4%) by weight, and beer of an alcoholic content of not more than eight percent (8%)by weight.”
Issue 2: “The legal sale of alcoholic liquors in the Town of Decatur.”
