The family of the first grader injured in a shooting on Sept. 30 at Newton Elementary School will be planning a march and benefit fundraiser to help with his medical bills.
The “Justice For Tylin March” will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021 in downtown Newton.
Lineup will be at 10 a.m. at the Newton Historic Depot, and the march will begin at 11 a.m.
The group is also selling T-shirts to raise awareness and for a fundraiser. Orders can be made for sizes youth through adult XL. Cost is $12 for those sizes, and anything over an XL will be $15.
According to the family, Money is due anytime before the event begins.
Proceeds will go toward Tylin Parker’s medical bills.
Parker was injured after a gun that was brought to school in a mesh backpack was discharged near the end of school Sept. 30. He was airlifted that day to the hospital and is facing the a long road of recovery.
